Military Health System selects Booz Allen Hamilton-led team to support HIPPA compliance

Booz Allen Hamilton announced yesterday that the Military Health System has awarded the firm a multi-year contract that will support military compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

The initial award is for $4,011,926 for the base year with three option years. The contract totals $14.1 million if all option years are utilized, and will be completed by May 2007.
“We look forward to helping the Military Health System obtain the benefits of privacy, security, and administrative simplification through implementation of the HIPAA compliance regulations,” said Ted Shema, Booz Allen senior vice president.
Booz Allen is the prime on this contract, supported by HIPAA Accelerator Inc., Plateau Systems, QuickCompliance, and Strategic Management Systems. Booz Allen will provide program and technical management support in the acquisition and administration of web-based systems for HIPAA training, compliance, and disclosure tracking. Booz Allen's subcontractors for this contract will provide training content (Quick Compliance), compliance application (Strategic Management Systems Inc.), learning management system (Plateau), and disclosure tracking (HIPAA Accelerator).
