The airline’s former CEO Coleman Andrews, a founder of Bain Capital, had hired dozens of consultants to help SAA turn around a loss making position and prepare the airline for partial privatisation. Having terminated Mr Andrews’s contract, the Board of SAA reviewed the consultancy contracts and decided the airline had become overly dependent on external consultants
