  Reports from the US suggest BCG intends to sack 80-100 consultants within the next weeks.

The cuts will affect consulting staff at all levels, but for the time being are restricted to the firm`s American operations.

Strategy consultancies such as BCG and McKinsey have been amongst the hardest hit by the downturn in expenditure on consulting services. While the beginnings of a turnaround have been seen in recent industry figures, clients are spending mostly on assignments that can deliver short-term quick hit results – not the projects that the likes of BCG and McKinsey focus on.
