Mr Mitchell will replace former Australian operation MD Don Easter, who left the company following the consolidation of EDS Asia-Pacific North and EDS Asia-Pacific South into one. Mr Easter had been Asia-Pacific South vice president for two years, while he also held the Australian managing director post.
He will oversee all lines of business and report directly to Phil Pryke, who in April was made vice president and general manager for the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr Mitchell, who is a UK-born Australian citizen, had just finished a two year “tour of duty” in the US. He was based in Texas as an EDS overseer of global communications sector development and president of strategic technology services.
He has had more than 20 years experience in the enterprise and government sectors in Europe, Asia and the US, EDS said in a statement.
Previously, he was a senior vice-president at A.T. Kearney, where he led the Asia-based communications, media and entertainment practice.
He began his career as a programmer, moving on to systems programming, program management and technical consulting and on to his more recent managerial and executive roles.
