The most comprehensive careers guide ever to be published about the UK consulting industry profiles 160 UK consulting firms together with advice on all aspects of securing a role in management consulting.

Healthy levels of recruitment in management consulting expected for 2008 and 2009

While a gloomy global economic outlook has caused both consulting growth estimates and hiring intentions to be scaled back, there will be no shortage of vacancies for experienced hires looking to find a new consulting employer, according to a new career guide from Top-Consultant.com.

Top-Consultant.com, the premier UK career web site for management and IT consultants, has published The Definitive Guide to UK Consulting Firms – a career guide for those interested in careers in consulting.

With more than 300 pages, The Definitive Guide to UK Consulting Firms is the most comprehensive careers guide ever to be published about the UK consulting industry. It contains a weighty career editorials section with contributions from leading consulting recruiters, covering all aspects of securing a role in consulting. An A to Z directory of UK consulting employers contains more than 160 company listings, many of whom have global operations.

The Definitive Guide is proving a success with more than 4000 copies having been requested in the first 48 hours since its release. Copies can be obtained for free by registering on http://news.top-consultant.com/guide_to_consulting_firms.aspx.

The Definitive Guide also contains an assessment of likely hiring patterns over the next two years. UK hiring activity levels for the management consulting sector are expected to level out at about half what they were in the most buoyant years of 2006 and 2007 – but this still equates to several thousand consultants being hired each year in both 2008 and 2009.

Top-Consultant Director Tony Restell commented: "We’ve spent the last six months compiling this guide and our thanks go to all the firms, contributors, advertisers and sponsors who chose to participate in this first edition. Thanks in particular to the team at Kingsham Press for initiating the creation of this guide and for working so tirelessly to make the vision a reality. The early indications are that this is proving to be a great hit with readers and we're delighted the initiative has been so well received."

In terms of future developments, a 3D eBook edition will be available from the above webpage later in September 2008, whilst a hardback print edition can be requested from mid-October 2008 onwards.

Top-Consultant intends to start work on a second edition of this guide early in 2010.
