Capgemini wins large outsourcing deal from Rijkswaterstaat
During this 7.5 year deal, worth 230 million Euro, Capgemini Netherlands and its partners will be responsible for the implementation and management of Rijkswaterstaat's IT infrastructure.
Capgemini will be responsible for all server- and computer centre-oriented services and the development and implementation of a completely new IT infrastructure. Main subcontractor HP will take care of managed desktop services, user support and supply of technology. The Rijkswaterstaat outsourcing deal also encompasses IT management of desktop and computer centre services including all 14,000 workspaces and thousands of servers on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat.
The contract, furthermore, leaves open the possibility of future upscaling to more divisions of the Dutch Traffic Department and incorporates an option to expand the contract term by five years. Capgemini, HP and Rijkswaterstaat are now about to begin the transformation process.
A first important step will be the October 2007 completion of a new office building (located in Westraven, Utrecht) with 2000 seats.
Rijkswaterstaat decided to outsource its IT environment in order to become more flexible and adaptable in the face of internal and external changes. Its close collaboration with Capgemini is an important step towards realizing this transformation. In order to optimally service Rijkswaterstaat, Capgemini will also closely collaborate with Sogeti (part of the Capgemini Group), with HP and with other important partners such as British Telecom and SCC.
