Atos Origin said it has acquired UniMedecine Group, its long-time partner in the French health sector.

Atos Origin acquires health sector partner in France

UniMedecine is the French leader of internet applications dedicated to the transfer and exchange of health data, and specialises in the design and production of health sector specific electronic communications tools.

While financial details of the deal were not disclosed, industry analysts estimate this to be a small acquisition, based on their estimates that UniMedecine's revenues are below €5 million.

In March 2005, Atos Origin and UniMedecine pooled their experience in a consortium to bid in the French Personal Medical Record (PMR) initiative announced by the French state. The two companies originally teamed up with HP to create a company with the name Santeos.

PMR programme is currently on hold but six consortia, Atos Origin/UniMedecine, Microsoft, France Telecom, Acenture and Siemens, were selected for a trial period that ran until the end of 2006.
