Saher Sidhom joins to lead Market Gravity’s prototyping team * New office in Edinburgh opens * New project wins include HSBC, Santander, Good Energy and Boots.

Combining great consumer insight with commercial thinking and creativity meant Market Gravity spent 2014 winning new business from big names that included HSBC, Santander, Good Energy and Boots. The fast-growing innovation and proposition design consultancy has helped these and other established corporations to innovate and launch new market-leading propositions by enabling corporate entrepreneurship.

Over the past six months, Market Gravity London has taken on 16 new team members in the UK, including engagement managers, consultants, UX designers, and new heads of marketing and of operations. 2015 will see the core London team expand further, as well as new office openings.

Further developments this year include Partner Robin Scarborough becoming MD of the London office, while Peter Sayburn has been appointed CEO. In this new role, he will devote more time to leading Market Gravity to the next stage, growing the business and opening more local offices in key markets around the world.

Reflecting on the early stages of growth, Peter Sayburn said:

“Market Gravity was born in the midst of one of the deepest recessions in history – but our first clients recognised that this could create competitive advantage and chose to invest in new product and service design. We also tailored Market Gravity’s approach to the conditions, focusing on the buoyant energy sector when financial services weakened, and snapping up great talent as larger companies were shrinking.”

With regard to his new role, he explained:

“In 2015 and beyond, we’ll continue improving our methods and bringing in new talent; this year we’re investing in prototyping and technology, and scaling up our insight team. To help retain our entrepreneurial spirit and growth company culture, we’re targeting new cities. Our New York office will grow significantly, while a brand-new Edinburgh office will establish a permanent presence in Scotland and support Scottish business growth. Many of our clients are global corporations and we aim to support them in every key market.”

Market Gravity’s fresh focus on new technology and prototyping will be led by Saher Sidhom, founder of Hackmasters London. Before founding Hackmasters, Saher set up AMV Forge at AMV BBDO; this division helped clients create new products and corporate ventures by exploiting disruptive technologies. Four new designers will also join the tech and prototyping team in January.

Saher said, “Exploiting and exploring new technology is at Market Gravity’s core; this new capability will give clients the tangible validation they need to launch new propositions confidently."

Dan Taylor will continue to run the growing New York office in 2015, while Paul Bowman will head the team at the new Market Gravity Edinburgh office. Paul said:

“Edinburgh’s one of the fastest growing economies in Western Europe and home to some of the world’s most successful large corporate enterprises. With an established client base and new business opportunities increasing, creating a permanent presence and a larger team in Scotland makes perfect sense for Market Gravity. We’re really excited about contributing to the Scottish economy by helping its companies turn their big ideas into reality and creating highly skilled employment opportunities for local talent”.

With new offices, capabilities and client projects, 2015 will see the next chapter in Market Gravity’s story unfold.
