BearingPoint is launching a new, centralized content and rights management solution for the media and entertainment industry.

BearingPoint launches media management solution

The BearingPoint solution integrates its Media Asset Management (MAM) and Digital Rights Management (DRM) offerings into an innovative, centralized solution to help validate copyright and compensation issues related to media content. The solution is built upon a data asset management architecture developed by Sun Microsystems and OpenText's Artesia Digital Media Group, as well as DRM software that includes business rights management from Sophoi. Integrated by BearingPoint, this new end-to-end solution broadens content acquisition and delivery options so providers can make content accessible in a wide variety of high- and low-resolution formats, to reach a larger current and potential client-base world-wide.

"Content and rights management is a challenge for every media and entertainment provider," said Gregory Boyer, a managing director in BearingPoint's communications and media practice. "With a proven, scalable and flexible MAM solution designed specifically for the communications and media industries, BearingPoint can offer a plug-and-play option to meet the market's growing need."

BearingPoint is implementing the solution with strategic global customers. As developed by BearingPoint, the scalable MAM solution is designed to eliminate redundant processes and improve operational efficiency by automating business-critical processes, such as content management, rights clearances, product distribution and royalty calculations.

"Currently, many global media and entertainment providers utilize different MAM solutions and multiple formats," said Boyer. "This disparity challenges their efforts to leverage content across new channels and markets. Also, when it comes to contract and rights management, this still is a largely manual process and impedes timely response to market needs."

Once deployed, the solution facilitates distribution of media assets and innovative product offerings, including television broadcasting, Pay TV, Internet, wireless content and interactive services, to broadcast, Internet, cable, satellite, telecommunications and wireless customers.

"This solution marks BearingPoint's strategic focus going forward on the global media market," said Thomas McKelvey, executive vice president of BearingPoint's technology, communications and media practice. "By leveraging our robust alliance partner ecosystem and deep in-house subject matter expertise, we're able to offer both off-the-shelf and custom asset management and digital rights applications, as well as the full range of enterprise management services."
