Auditel consultant enters charity bike ride
Auditel consultant Laurence Fitch has entered the first ever Lexus Great British Bike Ride. The four-day event in early September will be the first in a series of annual events to raise £1.5 million for charity over the next five years.
This year the event will be staged from Lands End to Twickenham Stadium. It is designed for all cycling enthusiasts, sportsmen and women, who want to take on a real challenge and raise some much appreciated funds.
Fitch said: “We expect to have close on 200 riders setting out from Lands End, which is more than the Tour de France. In fact the first day of 100 miles, is longer than several of the stages on this year’s tour.”
The ride’s nominated charities for this year include Help for Heroes, which helps servicemen and women injured in the current conflicts around the world; and The RFU Injured Players Foundation and The RPA Benevolent Fund, which provide support to rugby players who are seriously injured playing the sport they love.
Fitch concluded: “I hope that this event is the incredible success it deserves to be, starting a momentum for the next five years. I look forward to my greater involvement. Finally, I must also thank members of my local cycling club for talking me into investing in a good saddle – the best advice yet!”
