Logica provides unified IT security management for more than 200,000 users worldwide.

BMW works with Logica to enhance security and access for employees and customers

Logica, a leading business and technology service company today announced that it has implemented a corporate Identity and Access Management System (IdAS) that is completely integrated with the existing IT environment of the BMW Group. The new identity management system, which supports over 200,000 users, centralises all authorisation and approval processes, making them significantly more efficient than the point solutions that were in use to date.

With the new system, it takes only three hours for users to get their permissions, user names and log-in for all systems that fit their role profile. The connection and synchronisation of third-party systems, like the exchange of employee data, dealer or contract information, makes the management task for IT administrators much simpler, easier and faster.

“In place of a complex infrastructure with high support and maintenance costs, BMW is now working with a unified system. In addition to improving security, IdAS also simplifies user management for internal and external users,” explains Dr. Andreas Neumann, Management Consultant and Project Manager, Logica in Germany.

IdAS models thousands of roles with 15 permission processes and complex dependencies. On this basis, account management is now a largely automated process. For example, accounts are limited in time, and when an employee leaves the company, all of his or her accounts are centrally cancelled. An emergency function in the system can also be used to override any other permissions if required.

BMW, together with Logica and Logica’s partners Omada and Microsoft, received the “European Identity Award” for the IdAS project at this year’s European Identity Conference (EIC) in Munich, Germany. The award of the most prestigious European event in the field of Identity and Access Management validates Logica’s reputation as a system integrator for identity management solutions.
