Real estate corporate finance expert joins Deloitte
Sanderson, a 10-year veteran of investment banking in the real estate sector, joins Deloitte as a partner from Nomura where he was a managing director and head of real estate investment banking. He has also previously worked at Lehman Brothers and UBS Investment Bank. His appointment to Deloitte further strengthens the firm’s market leading real estate offering following the merger with Drivers Jonas at the beginning of the year to create Drivers Jonas Deloitte.
Sanderson commented on his appointment: “The real estate market will continue to present significant advisory opportunities, particularly in the restructuring space, as a result of the ongoing deleveraging by the major lending banks and the unwinding of the commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) market. Looking ahead, we can also expect to see increased joint venture activity and the continued assessment by both corporates and the public sector of their real estate ownership strategies.”
Mark Goodey, head of the Deloitte real estate practice, says: “Nick's appointment comes at a time when we are seeing increasing activity in the real estate sector. Nick’s knowledge and expertise will further strengthen our position in offering clients an objective advisory approach.
“The successful merger of Deloitte and Drivers Jonas Deloitte has revolutionised how property services are provided, enabling us to provide clients with a comprehensive and integrated suite of transaction and advisory services to meet all their business and property needs. The combination of this with Nick’s appointment uniquely positions Deloitte as being able to provide an integrated and independent offer combining real estate knowledge, tax, finance and structuring advice to UK and international investors and occupiers.”
