US DoD names five firms to compete for ERP implementation contracts |

Accenture, BearingPoint, CSC, Deloitte and IBM have been awarded a United States Department of Defense (DoD) agreement to bid on enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation projects. According to the DoD, the combined value of the projects is estimated at $1 billion.
Known as a Blanket Purchase Agreement, the award provides for the procurement of commercial off-the-shelf software implementation services from the companies. These services include configuration, integration, installation, data conversion, training, testing, object development, interface development, business process reengineering, project management, risk management, quality assurance and others. These agreements have been awarded under the DoD Enterprise Software Initiative, a joint DoD CIO project designed to implement a software enterprise management process within the DoD
Under the terms of their agreements, the companies is entitled to receive orders for ERP implementation support from all DoD organizations.
The DoD Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI) is a joint initiative to maximize DoD buying power and take advantage of the significant cost savings and management efficiencies that result from acquiring and managing commercially available software, IT hardware and selected services on a DoD-wide basis. The ESI is an approved initiative under the DoD Business Initiative Council (BIC). |
